Paper Competitions
The Trauma Resident Paper Competition will take place on Friday, May 10th beginning at 8:30am. The winners of this competition will be eligible to take part in the Regional Trauma Paper Competition. Abstracts will be opening in mid-January. Presentations will be ten minutes with approximately 5 minutes of discussion.
The OCACS Resident Paper competition will be held during the 2019 Ohio Chapter Annual Meeting. All general surgery residents, surgical specialty residents and fellow are encouraged to submit their work. Abstracts should be submitted electronically using the submission link below. The abstracts should be no longer than 250 words. Topics can be categorized as either Oncology (basic or clinical), General Clinical (clinical investigation in general surgery), or General Basic (basic laboratory research in a general surgery topic). A panel of reviewers will select abstracts for presentation. Chosen abstracts will be presented during the resident paper competition on Saturday, May 11 in Columbus. Cash prizes will be awarded to the best resident papers.

Mock Orals
Mock Orals will once again be offered as part of the OCACS Annual Meeting. Mock Orals are open to PGY-4&5, as well as Fellows. In an attempt to simulate the real exam, we make every attempt to pair residents with faculty not from their home institution. Residents typically take two 30-minute exams with written feedback at the end of the session. Mock orals will take place between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 11.
