Join or renew your membership with the Ohio Chapter

The Ohio Chapter, ACS would like to invite you to become a member of one of the most progressive and active state chapters in the country! It’s your membership that will continue to let the Chapter focus on important issues facing Ohio surgeons.

With your Ohio Chapter membership you will receive outstanding member benefits such as E-News, our monthly email which features articles on current topics, legislative alerts, and event information. You will also receive two hardcopy and electronic issues of Pulse. Members also have access to a newly-redesigned Ohio Chapter website with a completely new look, streamlined navigation, and special areas for surgeons and consumers, as well as an online expanded membership directory.

Introduced in late 2008 as a new member benefit to boost the awareness of Ohio Chapter Fellows, the “Find a Surgeon” feature was added to the front page of the Ohio Chapter website. Using this feature affords all visitors to the website the ability to locate a surgeon in their area. As the Ohio Chapter, ACS is a common source for Ohio surgery inquiries, what better place to find a surgeon who takes their profession seriously. It is our hope that this new feature will act as a big benefit that will manifest itself in patient referrals and giving our fellows a leg up on non-member Ohio surgeons.

One of the many important benefits offered by the Ohio Chapter to its members is an active and effective governmental affairs program. Over the past several years, the Ohio Chapter has substantially increased its efforts to proactively engage legislative and regulatory decision makers at the state level. The growing financial strain on the public and private health care delivery systems is creating difficult challenges for surgeons to continue to provide quality care to their patients while maintaining an economically viable practice. The Ohio Chapter recognizes that a strong advocacy voice in Columbus coupled with an active grassroots organization across Ohio is critical to protecting the practice of surgical medicine.

Over this past year, Ohio Chapter continues to fight legislative battles for the Ohio surgical profession. Ohio Chapter members were represented at the Statehouse on important issues relevant to Ohio surgeons. During this critical election year, the Surgeons Political Action Committee provided monetary contributions to candidates making a positive impact on the surgical profession

In addition, we are monitoring expanded scope of practice of physician assistants and changes in mandatory requirements of basic health insurance.
