Columbus, OH – Bill Doherty, of Ennis, County Clare, in Ireland, suffered from frequent leg and foot pain. When he saw his doctor in Ireland, he was diagnosed with peripheral arterial disease (P.A.D.), caused by fatty build-up collecting along the walls of the arteries that supply blood to the limbs. Tests revealed a 20-centimeter blockage in Bill’s leg.

Lower-extremity P.A.D., characterized by clogged arteries in the legs, is a serious disease that affects about 8 million Americans, according to the Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D) Coalition.
These blockages are the same as those found in the heart and neck and can result in stroke, heart attack, amputation and death.
